Hotel Recommendation

June 11, 2010

In order of Tripadvisor ranking.

The Royale Chulan KL (5 star – rates starting from $140AUD/night) – ranked #5 of 143 in KL
[this is the cheapest 5 star hotel I could find on tripadvisor, its very central and across the road from an upmarket shopping centre, the pavillion]

Impiana KLCC Hotel & Spa (4 star – rates starting from $100AUD/night) – ranked #14 of 143 in KL
[I've stayed here before and its very nice and central, walking distant to the twin tower & central city shopping]

Hotel Sentral (3 star – rates starting from $50AUD/night) – ranked #29 of 143 in KL
[I've never stayed here, but i've driven past it and its next to the big train/bus interchange. It's a very busy area and you need to travel 5km into the city (the bonus is that its conveniently located next to the station). Its located in an older part of the city and slightly out of the way]

Hotel Capitol (3 star – rates starting from $70AUD/night) – ranked #48 of 143 in KL
[A friend of mine has stayed here on several occasion and is within 'Australian standard' - very central and close to all the night spots (bukit bintang)]

Tunes Hotel (1 star – rates starting from $10AUD/night) – ranked #70 of 143 in KL
[its clean, its insanely cheap. Its effectively a small student dorm with bed, toilet & bathroom - never stayed here, but ]

One World Hotel (5 star – rates starting from $130AUD/night) – ranked #1 of 13 in Petaling Jaya
[this is where i'll be staying on 30th & 31st. It is located in the suburb connected to a popular shopping centre (one utama) - it's about 20mins west of the city, so might not be that convenient if you want to be partying close to the city.]

All the other times i’ll be staying at a serviced apartment with family @ http://www.junesapartment.com/

Long time no Blog.

May 4, 2010

It’s been awhile since the last blog.
We both have been busy since we got back from our overseas vacation.
Our vacation in March was a very fast moving one, busy with a full on schedule, day by day we were on the move. We not only went to Malaysia, we also went to China and travelled 4 cities.
It was one exhausting vacation.

I will have to stop here, even though I would love to tell you more about he holiday, you’ll have to wait to when I have a tat bit more free time.

Take care all.

Our All in One Party

March 1, 2010

27th February 2010

Just had one of the busiest night of our life.

We celebrated:
* Our engagement
* Our marriage registration
* Our going away for holiday in March
* End of Chinese New Year
* For anybody who are not able to make it to our wedding in October

On the night, there was lamb on a spit, BBQ, quiz games, people in ‘Cool shirts’ plus fun.
Great turn out on the night, over 50++ guests.

We would like to thank-you everyone for coming and their efforts for dressing up in ‘Cool shirts’. Also thank-you all for getting us a gift. Extra special thanks to the helpers on the night, you know who you are.  And finally big thanks to our parents for giving us the freedom on the day to have the party with minimal interference.

Pictures will be up after we come back from our busy holiday in 3 weeks time or so.
So stay tuned folks.

Marriage Celebrant

February 8, 2010

A marriage celebrant is a person who is authorised (registered) by the Government to perform legal marriages.

Celebrants (majority) provide the following services:

  • Solemnise your marriage
  • Advise on writing your own vows
  • Advise on matters regarding your marriage
  • Table for signing
  • Chairs for bride and groom
  • PA system

Our marriage celebrant is Graham Lambert.

He is a great man, has a good sense of humour and is charsimatic.

I found him on the WA celebrant search list and went onto his website.  After seeing his picture on his website, i recognised him from some of my friends’ wedding.  I’ve been to quite a bit of weddings and I got to say Graham is the best celebrant so far.  He makes the ceremony light up, full of life and joyful with his light sense of humour. It’s not like the ones where you want to fall asleep or cry cry cry. This is why we picked him.

Graham also has a very resourceful website and is very upfront with his fees. He has also provided a list of venues to hold marriage ceremonies and many ideas.  I’ve seen other celebrant’s website where they don’t disclose much about themselves and their fees. For more details visit his website below.

So, if you are looking for the perfect marriage celebrant on your special day, we recommend Graham Lambert.

Survival Camp

January 5, 2010

Us

Us

On Boxing Day we headed 1.5hours south of Perth to Dwellingup to camp in the bushes of W.A.

The place was beautiful, out of civilisation and up in the hills with a flowing river.

The weather was hot during the day and cool at night.

We survived 3 days, 2 nights of the Australian bush, hot and cool weather, camp food (tin, bread, instant noodles, snacks) and no clean water to bathe. It was a great experience but we would not be going back anytime in future.

Our Camping Ground

Our Camping Ground

The setting up of the tent was easier than I imagined when you have the right tools and surface area.
Sleeping in the tent was not too bad with a foam mattress and a sleeping bag. I Slept like a baby,  woke up to the singing of the native birds and shining sun.

On the second day we went down to the river and some of the guys went for a bathe down the stream. I sat on the rocks in the middle of the river on the upper stream watching people enjoying themselves cooling down.

Survival from the Great Aussie Flies:

Must Becareful and well alert when walking in Australian Bush!

Must Becareful and well alert when walking in Australian Bush!

One annoying thing was the Big Aussie Flies (especially Marsh Flies), they won’t leave you even when you shoo them or hit them. They will still come fly and land on you. What’s scary is that they feed on you, with their long tongues and fangs they bite into your flesh and you will swell. The boys got bitten. Somehow, I must be lucky not to get bitten by those monsters. Guess I have not enough fat and my flesh is not that tasty after all.

1st day Goers on 2nd day morning.

Some of the Crew

Also, when you decide to cook something meaty and fishy, be WARNED of the flies. They come and attack within seconds, especially as the weather gets hot. Best to bring food that does not attract flies – eg. cup noodles (certain flavour), instant porridge, bread etc…

Advice: Bring strong Insect Repellent (with lots of DEET), mozzie incense and minimum 30+ sunscreen, lots of fresh water.
